School Mission

The East Whittier Middle School (EWMS) community is committed to enriching the lives of every child that walks through our historical doors. EWMS staff is second to none. Children work with a fantastic group of dedicated and caring educators. EWMS is a student-centered school that prides itself on working closely with families to create an exceptional learning environment for our students. As a result, the state selected EWMS as a California Gold Ribbon School, a California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll School as well as the recipient of the California School Board Association Golden Bell Award for the English Language Acquisition Through the Use of Technology program offered at the site.

It is the school's desire to keep the focus on increasing student achievement and doing whatever it takes to help ALL our students be successful and enjoy coming to school each day. The EWMS motto is: Empowered to Achieve Grow and Learn, Eagles will SOAR!

The EWMS staff desires to provide your child with the best educational program possible and help them reach their potential. We are committed to the following:

• Creating a safe and caring school that students enjoy going to and parents are proud to have their children attend.
• Increasing student achievement for ALL students and helping each student master the new CA state standards.
• Knowing each student as a unique and special individual so that we can challenge him or her at his or her current level.
